Question 1

Who may be eligible for the Victorian Solar Homes rebate?

Accepted Answer

Eligibility is set by Solar Victoria and generally considers factors such as owner-occupancy, property value, household taxable income and whether the property has previously received a Solar Homes rebate. Our questionnaire provides a preliminary indication only — final eligibility is confirmed through the official Solar Victoria process.

Question 2

How do federal Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) work?

Accepted Answer

STCs are a federal incentive under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. The number of certificates depends on system size, location and the remaining deeming period, and they are typically applied as an upfront point-of-sale discount by your installer or retailer.

Question 3

Can I access both a solar rebate and a battery incentive?

Accepted Answer

State and federal programs have separate criteria, and in some cases they can be combined. Available incentives change over time, so we recommend a personalised assessment to confirm what may apply to your property.

Question 4

Is my Melbourne roof suitable for solar panels?

Accepted Answer

Most Victorian roofs — tile, tin or Colorbond — can host solar. Suitability depends on roof orientation, shading, available area and structural condition, which an accredited installer assesses during a formal site inspection.

Question 5

What happens on cloudy or rainy Melbourne days?

Accepted Answer

Solar panels still generate electricity in diffuse light, just at reduced output. A correctly sized system accounts for Melbourne's climate, and battery storage can hold excess daytime generation for evening use.

Question 6

Is the Solar One Plus questionnaire an official government application?

Accepted Answer

No. Our questionnaire is a preliminary assessment tool only. It is not an official government application and does not guarantee eligibility, savings or rebate amounts. Formal applications are handled through official program channels with your chosen accredited retailer or installer.
